OCC’s public art collection stands among the largest and most diverse of any convention center in the country—valued at over $2 million and featuring creations by more than two dozen primarily Pacific Northwest artists. You’ll find everything from the world’s largest Foucault pendulum and a 40-foot dragon boat suspension to compelling murals and immersive hanging installations.

Our Not-So-Hidden Art Treasures

From Principia, the world’s largest Foucault pendulum, to Ode to a Men’s Restroom, our art collection captures Portland’s sometimes perplexing but always fun-loving personality.

Our public art collection is one of the largest and most varied to be featured in any convention center. The collection was funded by the Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC) Percent for Art program, two National Endowment for the Arts grants, and contributions by the Oregon Arts Commission, corporations and individuals. The collection came in two installments, one at the opening of the building in 1990 and again in 2003 during the building's expansion.

Discover our not-so-hidden art treasures during your visit. Stop by the welcome desk in the MLK Lobby for a copy of a self-guided art tour or download one right now.

Explore Our Public Art Collection

The Oregon Convention Center is home to one of the largest public art collections in the region. We welcome visitors to enjoy a self-guided tour of the artwork throughout the venue.

When You Can Visit

Public art tours are available on days when:

  • The venue is open to visitors, and an event is taking place where entrances are open to the public (not access-controlled through ticketing or registration).
  • Access is not otherwise restricted, as there may be times when public art viewings cannot be accommodated.

Please note: While we do our best to make the collection available, some areas of the building may be closed due to event activity, construction, or maintenance. You’ll still find plenty of artworks on display to enjoy during your visit.

How It Works

When you arrive, please stop at the Welcome Desk in the MLK Lobby or the Admin Office on Level 2 to receive a visitor badge and a Public Art brochure. Our staff will be happy to provide directions and answer your questions.

We look forward to welcoming you and sharing the vibrant art collection that makes the Oregon Convention Center unique.
