A renovation of the Oregon Convention Center is set to begin this summer as Portland prepares for the January 2020 opening of the Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center.
The renovation includes numerous upgrades to the center’s lobbies and ballrooms, as well as reconstruction of the plaza on the northeast corner, adjacent to TriMet MAX light rail and the hotel. This project will reinvigorate the image of the 28-year-old center and improve OCC's national and international competitiveness for convention business.
- The $27 million renovation project is funded through the center's reserves, which were built up from good financial management
- The contract with Colas Construction is the largest public contract in Oregon history to be awarded to a minority-owned business as the prime contractor
- These upgrades will allow OCC to continue to provide world-class service for today’s convention needs
Renovations are expected to be completed by September 2019.
