Our not-so-hidden art treasures
From Principia, the world’s largest Foucault pendulum, to Ode to a Men’s Restroom, our art collection captures Portland’s sometimes perplexing but always fun-loving personality.
Our public art collection is valued at well over $2 million and is one of the largest and most varied to be featured in any convention center. The collection was funded by the Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC) Percent for Art program, two National Endowment for the Arts grants, and contributions by the Oregon Arts Commission, corporations and individuals. The collection came in two installments, one at the opening of the building in 1990 and again in 2003 during the building expansion.
