Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) on April 12, 2018 brings together leaders from across the meetings and events industry to showcase the real impact that business meetings, conferences, conventions, incentive travel, trade shows and exhibitions have on our industry. Meeting professionals across the world participate in this international day of advocacy.
"Meetings Mean Business" is an industry-wide coalition to showcase the undeniable value that business meetings, trade shows, incentive travel, exhibitions, conferences and conventions bring to people, businesses and communities. By rallying industry advocates, working with stakeholders, conducting original research, engaging with outside voices and more, the coalition brings the industry together to emphasize its importance. Comprised of over 60 members, the coalition unites the meetings industry with one strong and powerful voice.
It will be a full day of education including a keynote lunch and concluding with a social hour. The Oregon Convention Center (OCC) will cap the day by lighting its rooftop spires and crescent in GMID blue to recognize Global Meeting Industry Day at dusk.
The OCC is honored to host this international meetings industry event along with Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and MPI Oregon. The event will be broadcast live and the OCC was selected to stream the event’s closing keynote.
