Portland streetcar expands service with new routes

This fall, the Portland Streetcar expands service on both sides of the Willamette river. The Central Loop will become two new lines: the A Loop and B Loop. When the new routes open on September 12th, they will carry riders between Portland’s East and West sides and connect popular Portland destinations via the new Tilikum Crossing.

Ambitious rooftop solar array planned for the Oregon Convention Center

This summer, the OCC will install what is anticipated to be one of the largest solar arrays on a convention center in the U.S. More than 6,500 rooftop solar panels are expected to produce 25 percent of the facility’s electricity. Construction of the two megawatt project is scheduled to begin in August and the system is estimated to be in service this fall.

Supporters of a proposed Hyatt hotel near the Oregon Convention Center were celebrating another legal victory Thursday, but the project still faces challenges before it can go forward. For the second day in a row, a county judge ruled that Metro has the authority to issue bonds to help pay for the proposed hotel.
