The Oregon Convention Center (OCC) is proud to announce that Marie McLean has earned her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) credentials.
Launched by the Convention Industry Council in 1985 to enhance the knowledge and performance of meeting professionals and advance uniform standards of practice, achieving CMP certification requires years of professional experience, education and mastery of a rigorous exam.
McLean, event manager for the facility, joined the convention center staff in 2001, starting as an event coordinator, and later became an account executive prior to moving into the event manager II role. She came to OCC from Portland’5 (Portland Center for Performing Arts at the time) where she was a house manager and ticket services supervisor.
“We are very proud of Marie for this accomplishment," said Scott Cruickshank, OCC Executive Director. "Achieving the CMP is an important milestone in her dedication to her craft and clients.”
Adding CMP designation to her title helps to maintain the Oregon Convention Center’s position as a top-tier convention destination.
McLean joins six OCC staff who previously earned their CMP designations. “These certifications reflect not only hard work and diligence among the staff but a true commitment to keeping Portland in its top ranking on the national level,” Cruickshank added.
The Oregon Convention Center is owned by Metro and managed by the Metro Exposition and Recreation Commission. OCC is a LEED Platinum certified facility hosting groups from around the world and bringing millions of dollars into the Portland and Oregon economy.
